((Why Amon is so sure that the Kyoshi Warriors are on his side and a response to fanmail messages under the cut.))

Some people have reblogged the most recent answer and wondered why Amon believes the Kyoshi Warriors will help him, considering the whole… Avatar Kyoshi… thing. I love talking about my theories, so, three explanations:

He’s lying. The mere existence of an elite non-bending force that reveres the Avatar is terrible for PR. He wants to make people believe that all non-benders are on the same side, so he lies and hopes nobody comes up from Kyoshi to beat him up.
He’s stretching the truth. The Equalists may have learned chiblocking from the Kyoshi Warriors and built up a few contacts there. They may have even recruited a few of them. The core of the Warriors is intact, but Amon believes (probably wrongly) he can convince them to not attack him.
He’s being honest and the Kyoshi Warriors are completely on board. A lot of things can happen in 70 years.

Granted, I really want Amon to pull out some fans at some point, so I’m biased.

As for fanmail (feel free to use it to voice concerns, but please don’t send Amon questions through it)…

All of you are so sweet! It’s so crazy that this blog is changing people’s perceptions of Amon— I look forward to episode 6, when everything on this blog starts to get overturned, hehe.

Amon’s easier to humanize than you think! Nobody can be that creepy all the time— whenever he starts to get to me, I imagine him eating breakfast, and the terror melts away. Beyond that, any political figure has to be appealing somehow to get and keep followers.

Imagine being an Equalist: you’re fed so much rhretoric about the economy and political oppression, all of which is true, and you’re so wrapped up in righteous fury that when your leader hijacks the radio and threatens innocent people you don’t really care so much…. Oops, he’s creepy again, and breakfast isn’t helping, but that’s what makes him fun!
