Equalist Propaganda

There has been a lot of talk about Councilman Tarrlok. Though I have equalized him, his influence will be felt for a long time. His task force, curfew, and oppressive policies have set a dangerous precedent.

The former Councilman is the topic of today’s discussion.

Through intense training, I have gained complete control over my being, including my chi and blood.

This ability allows me to resist bloodbending.

We have always been wary of the Councilman, so we have keet tabs on his property, vehicle, and whereabouts. We noticed him leaving the city last night. When we heard the Avatar was captured, we realized what he had done, and searched his residences.

Her freedom was an accident, but this is better than leaving her where she was. She is a master bender and a powerful bargaining chip. Who knows what Tarrlok would have used her to do….

We always find a way. Our membership has actually increased since the curfew was instated. The unjust, aggressive policies of the Council and the Police have made it impossible for people to stand by quietly anymore.

I cannot be held accountable for the government’s actions. Their tyranny is their own.

Tell your readers this: benders’ oppression forced us to take up arms. This broken society is to blame.

I am hardly surprised. Evil men use any excuse they can to excuse their crimes. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

Councilman Tarrlok is no longer a problem. Note that we did not need Avatar Korra, the Council, Metalbenders, or any other official to take him down. We have succeeded where legitimate powers have failed. Although, if the government cannot root criminals in its own ranks, it is hardly legitimate, is it?

Now, we must understand why this happened, and why it will happen again if we do not strike now.

Tarrlok made himself a dictator by using the self-interest of the all-bending council and the raw power of the benders in the police.

This begs the question:

Can there be harmony between benders and nonbenders?

No.

Tarrlok has done the same thing as the Triads and Yakone. It is what the Fire Nation did to the world, what the Dai Li did to the peasants of Ba Sing Se, and what Chin the Conqueror did to the Earth Kingdom. It is what the power plant does when it hires lightning benders instead of improving technology, and what universities do when they say that waterbenders are “better fits” for medical programs, and what the police does when it prevents all but the most powerful earthbenders from being promoted.

In short: They used the power of bending to legitimate oppression, discrimination, and violence.

Some used to think the Metalbenders would protect us. Now, they round us up and throw us in cages. Some used to think waterbending healers could do no wrong. Now, we know that same power can crush our lungs and make us drive blades into our own flesh.

Some used to think Tarrlok was just a politician, but see what he really was!

You say there are peaceful benders, benders who do not want to oppress us. Show me one of those benders, and I will show you another Tarrlok lying in wait. Give them a bit of power, then challenge them, and watch how quickly that peace dissolves.

If you believe we can convince the current government to make laws to make sure this never happens again, think again. Benders are the government, and powerful benders do not want to stop benders from using their power.

Benders have physical power over us. They have social and economic advantages over us. They are said to be closer to the spirit world than us.

Benders will always try to dominate us in the end.

That is why I am here.

The only way to stop benders from crushing us is is to remove their bending.

I am the solution to this, the gravest problem the world faces. I am the weapon the people wield against the oppressors. I am the humble servant of the spirits who have heard our cries.

I am mankind’s savior.
